Acrylic/Gel Nails Aftercare

Artificial nails are like natural nails in that they will snap and split if mistreated.  Your enhancements will withstand REASONABLE wear and tear, but NOT abuse!

Always remember ~ Your nails are jewels NOT tools! Do not use them for opening cans etc! Use the pads of the fingers or get a knife or other appropriate tool!

Always wear gloves for “dirty” jobs such as gardening, as soil particles can work their way under the free edge, or any areas of lifted product and cause bacterial infection (shows as a green stain on the nail).

Always wear rubber gloves (preferably with cotton lining) when dealing with chemicals of any kind (washing up liquid, bleach etc).

When wearing Bio Sculpture Gel, you should use Bio Sculpture Polish Remover to remove nail varnish, as acetone damages the surface of the enhancement. This is available in our online shop or directly from us.

If you chip or damage a nail, file it back into shape and shorten it to avoid causing any more damage by catching it until you can return to the salon.

If a nail comes loose or starts to lift badly always have a professional repair done as DIY repairs can seriously damage your nails - Please DO NOT glue it with super glue as it is virtually impossible to remove!  If need be put a plaster or some tape over to hold it in place and avoid causing damage to your natural nail.

Never bite, chew or pull your nails off as this can cause damage to your natural nail.  Always come back to the salon for a professional removal.

Your nails will need regular maintenance every 2/3 weeks. If you do not have your nails maintained they will become unbalanced, causing damage to your natural nails.

You should apply Perfect Ten Nail Oil 3 times a day for the first week, then twice a day thereafter to keep the enhancements "flexible" and prevent them becoming brittle and breaking or lifting.

When you start to notice a margin of regrowth, take 1 or 2 mm off the length of the free edge to keep them "balanced". This will also help prevent them from snapping and lifting.
